On reading

As well as writing, I spend as much time as I can reading (well, that is, when I’m not doing other things I enjoy like eating or having quality time with my family).  I frequently travel by train, which is a perfect opportunity to immerse myself in a good book, occasionally missing my station through happy oblivion.  So I thought I’d share what I’m reading, or what I have read, on the rather egotistic assumption that somebody might care.  To that end, therefore, I will be occasionally Jotting down some comments on books other than my own
